Herbal 'teas' are infusions made with herbs, flowers, roots, spices or other parts of some plants. They are also know as "tisane."

Although a tisane does not contain as any polyphenols (as found in black or green tea), they can promote other various health qualities such as relaxation and calming effects.

Herbal teas such as thyme, peppermint and ginger can have therapeutic qualities.

'This means they make effective remedies if drunk at least three to four times a day,' says Susan Curtis, a homeopath for Neals Yard Remedies, 'The best quality herbal teas tend to be organic.'
